I am 68 years old (as of this writing) and created this site to ensure that something meaningful and uniquely mine remains after I am gone.

My target audience is my family and descendants, but if others find value in this site, I will be pleased.

I have had two professional careers. The first, lasting approximately 10 years, was as a journalist and editor for a daily newspaper in Effingham, Illinois (where I still live). The second, lasting until my retirement, was as a software developer and tech support for a local healthcare-related company. Both of those careers will serve me well here.

I have to give due credit to Claude (the Anthropic AI) for helping me get this site up and running. I have been using it to help me write code and it has been a huge time-saver. I am awed by its abilities and only wish I had access to it when I was in my software development career. But I have NOT used Claude to write any of the content on this site. That is all me.
